Pictures I took...

So I LOVE photography (as a hobby). I have taken a couple of classes, but I don't call my self an expert by any means. I just love to do it when I have time (which is hardly ever). Back in March, I took some photos for my friend Traci's family. I had so much fun, but never got around to posting any of the pictures I took. Traci made a collage that I thought was so cute. Take a look. I think they turned out pretty good - if I do say so myself!

Click on the collage for a closer look...

Contribute 2009

I'm doing this - are you?

Contribute 2009 FAQ
Q: What is Contribute 2009?
A: Scentsy contributed $100,000 to 40 small businesses in its home community to celebrate its Fifth Anniversary. Many Scentsy consultants expressed an interest in contributing further. Contribute 2009 was designed to give Scentsy consultants that opportunity but then was expanded to include everyone who wanted to participate. We hope Contribute 2009 will grow, expand and spread across the country because true contribution is not tied to what you receive.
Our goal is to inspire 100,000 people to pledge to spend an extra $50 at locally owned small businesses on October 12, 2009. That’s a $5 million economic infusion that can create a ripple effect in communities across the nation. That’s big help for small business.
Q: How do I pledge?
A: Go to www.scentsycontribute.org and click on the Consultant Pledge or Public Pledge tab. Pledge to spend $50 at a small business in your local community. You can buy a Contribute 2009 T-shirt for only $9 to wear when you shop on October 12 or another day that week. We also encourage you to spread the word.
Q: What am I pledging?
A: You are pledging to spend an extra $50 at a small business in your community on October 12, 2009 or another day that week. By doing so, you will be part of a collective contribution to small businesses and the surrounding communities.
Q: What is the difference between the Consultant Pledge and the Public Pledge?
A: As a Scentsy Independent Consultant, we are asking you pledge to spend an extra $50 to help small businesses, and to recruit four people to do the same. By doing so, you will receive a free Scentsy 5th Anniversary T-shirt.
For everyone else, we are asking you to pledge to spend an extra $50 at a small business in your local community. Although we encourage you to involve your family and friends in this event, it is not required when you pledge.
Q: Where do I buy the Contribute 2009 shirt?
A: Go to www.scentsycontribute.org and pledge to spend $50 in your local community. After you click SUBMIT on the pledge, you will be directed to the Contribute 2009 T-shirt ordering page where you can purchase your Contribute 2009 T-shirt by filling in the required shipping and billing information, and providing a credit card number.
Q: When do I get my Contribute 2009 shirt?
A: You will receive your Contribute 2009 T-shirt within the week of October 5, 2009 so you can wear it when you go shopping on October 12 or another day that week.
Q: How do I get a birthday Gift Certificate from Scentsy?
A: To receive a $10 Scentsy Gift Certificate, please provide your email, birth date and gender in the required fields. After the October 12 shopping day, Scentsy will send your birthday Gift Certificate via email. You can use that gift certificate to purchase Scentsy product through a Scentsy independent consultant.
Q: What do I do after I spend my $50 at a small business?
A: After you spend your $50 in your local community, please share your experience with us. At www.scentsycontribute.org, click on the ‘Share your Story’ tab and fill in the necessary information and tell us your story. Feel free to upload a photo you may have of your experience. If you are a Scentsy Consultant, we would also like you to post your story on your workstation. The Share Your Story tab will be open to share your story after October 12, 2009.
E-mail me today, if you have any questions or would like to use your product credit & tell me your story! mistyviolet@hotmail.com.
Thanks!

Last Chance!

Yes, it’s me! I know that I haven’t really blogged in a long time, but I’m now back from Maternity Leave. We had our precious little McKai Alan on June 20, and I am just getting back into the swing of things with a 3 year-old and an infant. I couldn’t love my family more, but I figure it's about time to start blogging again. And, I can start off with this gorgeous picture of Kai.

Photo taken by Kelly Bennett

PS - Try & pretend I am not chubby in the new family picture on my page header above. This was only 2 weeks after having McKai.

Now, for some AWESOME Scentsy news. I am excited to let everyone know that if there was ever a time to buy Scentsy, now would be the time! All Scentsy products from the Spring/Summer Catalog are 10% off, excluding the Multi-packs: Perfect Scentsy, Scentsy Sampler & Double the Scentsy - but they are already more than 10% off anyway. To see the Spring/Summer catalog and see exactly what is on sale, click here. Or, go to my website: www.scentsy.com/mistybarry and click on ‘View Catalog’.

Even though this 10% off includes all Scentsy products, Scentsy is also discontinuing a bunch of items to make room for their new Fall/Winter line and all of these items are included in the 10% off sale. I wanted to let all of my wonderful customers know about all of the items discontinued because you won’t have an opportunity to purchase any of them ever again after this month. I am so sad because a few of my favorites are going to be no more. You may want to try them out, so you don’t miss out on the AWESOMENESS!

Some of my favorite scents that are getting discontinued are: Fresh Cut Cantaloupe, Grapefruit Blossom, Havana Cabana, Lemon Lavender, Mediterranean Spa, Sangria, Spiced Orange Harvest, Spruceberry and Toasted Apple Butter. I think the only scent on the entire list that I don’t like at all is Herb Garden…take my word for it…this one is not good! See the full list of scents below.

Some of my favorite warmers that are getting discontinued are: Bombay, Brownstone, Dandy Brown (Plug-in), Pressed Penny, Weave Black (Plug-in). See the full list of warmers below.

Please e-mail me your orders at: mistyviolet@hotmail.com by August 27 at 11:00 a.m., if you want to receive free shipping and be included on this 10% off sale. August 27, is when I will be placing my last order for the month. If you need your items sooner or last-minute for a Birthday or Wedding, let me know because I have plenty of items in stock that would be available for immediate pickup or would be able to place another order, and can ship anywhere, if needed.

Thanks to all of my awesome customers for sticking by me, especially while I have been taking care of my sweet little boys. That is why I love selling Scentsy because I get to use the product that I believe in 100% and I get to share with all of my friends and family at times that work for my family. If you are interest in starting a business for only $100 that allows you to pick your own schedule, Scentsy is for you too! Also, August is the best month to sign up as a consultant because they give you all of the Spring/Summer items along with all of the Fall/Winter items. Definitely, the best bang for your buck! I totally appreciate everyone and it’s because of you - I love Scentsy that much more!

PS - Click HERE for a sneak peak at the new Fall/Winter catalog that I can place orders for starting September 1.

Thanks,

Take care, and remember, practice Safe Scents!

Our Little One is Finally Here!

McKai Alan was born Saturday, June 20. He was 7 lbs. 12 oz. & 19 inches long. He has tons of dark hair & the most adorable chubby cheeks.
We still don't have a lot of pictures because he has been in the NICU the past few days. It makes me sad to post all of the pictures with the wires & IV attached to him, so there should be some coming as soon as he gets released.

Hayden & Tristan

There's nothing like playing warm mud & rocks for two hours. Seriously, Hayden has been so great to Tristan while his mommy and daddy have been at the hospital. This is the two of them hanging out in some hot springs, just makin' some mud pies!

Utah Barbie Release

Disclaimer: I did not make this up, so if you are offended...SORRY!!!

Mattel recently announced the release of limited-edition Barbie Dolls for the Utahmarket:

'Park City Barbie'
She comes with an assortment of Kate Spade Handbags, a Lexus SUV, a long-haired foreign dog named Honey and a million dollar home. Available with or without tummy tuck and face lift. Workaholic Ken sold only in conjunction with the augmented version.

'Draper Barbie'
The modern day homemaker Barbie is available with Ford Wind star Minivan and matching gym outfit. She gets lost easily and has no full-time occupation. Traffic jamming cell phone sold separately.

'Ogden Barbie'
This recently paroled Barbie comes with a 9mm handgun, a Ray Lewis knife, a Chevy with dark tinted windows, and a meth Lab Kit. This model is only available after dark and must be paid for in cash (preferably small, untraceable bills) unless you are a cop; then we don't know what you are talking about.

'Sandy Barbie'
This yuppie Barbie comes with your choice of BMW convertible or Hummer H2. Included are her own Starbucks cup, credit card and country club membership. Also available for this set are Shallow Ken and Private School Skipper. You won't be able to afford any of them.

'Spanish Fork Barbie'
This pale model comes dressed in her own Wrangler jeans two sizes too small, a NASCAR t-shirt and Tweety Bird tattoo on her shoulder. She has a six-pack of Bud light and a Hank Williams Jr. CD set. She can spit over 5 feet and kick Mullet-Haired Ken's butt when she is drunk. Purchase her pickup truck separately and get a confederate flag bumper sticker absolutely free.

'Scipio Barbie'
This tobacco-chewing, brassy-haired Barbie has a pair of her own high-heeled sandals with one broken heel from the time she chased Beer-Gutted Ken out of Spanish Fork Barbie's house. Her ensemble includes low-rise acid-washed jeans, fake fingernails, and a see-through halter-top. Also available with a mobile home.

'Moab Barbie'
This doll is made of actual tofu. She has long straight brown hair, arch-less feet, hairy armpits, no makeup and Birkenstocks with white socks. She prefers that you call her Willow. She does not want or need a Ken doll, but if you purchase two MoabBarbies and the optional Subaru wagon, you get a rainbow flag bumper sticker for free.

'West Valley Barbie'
This Barbie now comes with a stroller and 2 infant dolls. Optional accessories include a GED and bus pass. White boy Gangsta Ken and his 1979 Caddy were available, but are now very difficult to find since the addition of the infant.

'Provo / BYU Barbie'
She's perfect in every way, mainly due to the high levels of antidepressants in her system. We don't know where Ken is because he's always at church meetings.

Adult Spiderman Themed Costume

I'm wondering if anyone has or knows someone that has an adult Red or Black Spiderman/Green Goblin/Venom/etc. costume? I'm doing a Spidey Birthday party for Tristan and am looking to borrow or rent (for a small cost) a Spidey costume. I have searched for a while to see if there was one that I could buy or rent, but it is just too expensive. I only need it for a couple of hours and I just know that it would make his day.

Can anyone help?

Got Bumbo?

So, I've heard from so many people that a Bumbo is the way to go. I would buy one, but they are pretty expensive. So, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to let me borrow theirs? I wouldn't need it for a couple of months, but would promise to return it spotless and promptly after my baby boy is finished with it.
*Update - Thanks to Richelle, I think I have one. Good friends are the best! :)

Prego Shots & Tristan

All pictures were taken by Jen Lewis Photography - thanks Jen!

These were a couple of pictures that Jen took of Tristan being preoccupied with a book during the photo shoot. :)

She took tons that I love, but these are the few that I am willing to share. I just don't think I am ready to publicize my bare belly to the world!

Thanks again Jen!

Support Misty's Super-Adorable Maternity Dress Fund!

Small problem - I can't justify the purchase of this absolutely gorgeous $200 dress that I can only wear while pregnant for the next couple of months.

Solution - I told myself that if I can sell enough Scentsy in the next couple of weeks to afford the dress, then I can justify buying it!

So, for anyone that wants to support MY SUPER-ADORABLE MATERNITY DRESS FUND, and needs a little more Scentsy in their life or needs an awesome MOTHER'S DAY GIFT, please e-mail me at: mistyviolet@hotmail.com.

Isn't the above pictured new warmer absolutely gorgeous (I THINK SO). You can get it at 10% off the regular price. :)

I will throw in a FREE car candle for anyone that orders $25 or more, a FREE Scentsy bar for anyone that orders $50 or more & the BIG WHAMMY, a FREE Plug-in for anyone that spends $100 or more!

Please people, I NEED this dress!

If Only.....

If I only had $200 to blow on a dress that I would wear 8 times (at the most) in the next couple of months, during my pregnancy. Wouldn't that be awesome!

I feel FAT...

Thanks to Devri for posting this pic.....I laughed A LOT!

But sadly, it's a little too close to home. Thank your lucky stars that I don't have any shorts that tight or short! And luckily, I get to wear scrubs to work....not that they are super-flattering, but they (sort-of) conceal stuff. Honestly, I could roast marshmallows under these uniforms and no one would know!

Nothing like being pregnant and getting depressed every time I step on the scale because even though this weight gain is all fine and dandy for the baby, I am just going to have to lose all this CRAP after I deliver. And to make matters worse, I have no extra help having to deliver by c-section.

So seriously people...feel bad for me! :)

In Need of a Refresher....

I was thinking...(I know, don't be shocked), but I was thinking that there are a lot of things I still haven't learned about Pregnancy and post-pregnancy. I think I may need a refresher course or possibly some tips on those favorites that I didn't discover my first time around.

I have been out of the loop for a few years and I know that things have changed. Is there something new and better now? My cousin Rachel just had a baby a couple of months back and apparently, there is a new diaper out now that changes color on the outside to tell you if the diaper is wet or dry - HOW COOL!

What are your favorite bottles or what is your favorite baby carrying device, etc.? It doesn't have to be something new, just something that maybe I didn't figure out with my first. So, please leave me a comment telling me some of your favorite pregnancy things, post-pregnancy things or baby things.

Thanks for the tips - in advance....

All dressed up and somewhere to go!

Happy St. Patty's from Darth/Batman/Boomer/....

If you were to ask Tristan, this is totally a cool outfit. From his Daddy's paintball mask, to his Batman pajama top, to his big boy underwear & shoes. I told him that we were going somewhere and needed to get dressed and this is what he wanted to wear!

He makes me laugh so hard and sometimes I wish I could go to the store looking like this too. :)

Who else is excited for DWTS?

The idiot Bachelor's loss is our gain. I used to think that Jason (this past season's Bachelor) was a nice guy....until, he did what he did to Melissa. I just think that even if he had a change of heart and realized he made the wrong decision, he shouldn't have done the whole break-up on TV. What a Jack@&*#! I have totally lost respect for him and felt terrible for Melissa.

But now, his loss is our gain. They just announced last night that she is the newest cast member for this season's Dancing with the Stars. She only had 48 hours to practice, but with a little dance background, she did so much better than most of the people that had 4 weeks to practice.

Aside from Melissa, I am equally excited for almost everyone they cast. Including the pros and the fact that they now have a couple more runner-ups from SYTYCD. I still would've preferred they pick Kendra (other Girl Next Door), but Holly might shock us and bring a little entertainment. Who knows, we may have a Janet Jackson (boop pop-out of dress) mishap. I totally see it happening!
From Playboy playmates to exconvicts, they have a whole cast of interesting people. Who ever thought that Tom B. would've have been allowed to say "Jack%#@*" on Family TV? I am so excited and hope that everyone else will be watching every episode, right along with me (although, I watch it on DVR after Tristan is in bed, so I can FFWD through the commercials to watch a 2 hr. show in a little over an hr. and it doesn't take up mommy/kid time).

PS - I know my blog is meant to be a journal for my family, but I just can't help posting about DWTS - I love dance reality TV!

Peekaboo Bowtique Giveaway

You heard it right, my friends over at Peekaboo Bowtique are doing a giveaway! For anyone that came to the Holiday Boutique I did last November, Peekaboo Bowtique was there selling the most adorable tutus, bows, hats, etc.

If you're pregnant....

Seriously, if you are pregnant and haven't used this yet - DO IT NOW!

It is the first prego lotion that I have used that actually seems like it works. It's made by Burt's Bees and is loaded with all the stuff to help you keep stretch marks non-existent.

I love Burt's Bees lip balm and Todd does too. He put the Belly Butter in my stocking (along with a bunch of other cool prego things) for Christmas and I am so glad he did (although, I catch him using it every now and then) it's just that AWESOME!

Update on Tristan

It's been too long since I did an update on Tristan, so I thought what better day than today.

Tristan has recently been doing very well with potty-training (minus the occasional dropping the kids off anywhere, but the pool accidents & sometimes accidents during bedtime). So, I thought I would share a few pictures of his potty-training mishaps.

This picture is of Tristan in the naughty corner (he decided to lay down) and a lot of the time he puts his undies on backwards, so he can see the really big picture of the really cool superhero or animated character printed on the (supposed to be) bum of his underwear.

This is a picture of Tristan tucking his shirt into his undies. Seriously...AWESOME!

And here's a picture of the wrong way to put on underwear. I guess they are a little big!

On a non potty-training note, here Tristan is at Kristen's in the crib with his two buddies. They all thought they needed to take a nap together!

And this is their best impression of a shark!

And, here's my little long-haired wonder sliding down the slide. This is so funny, but for anyone that watches America's Next Top Model, they talk about the wind in your hair when you walk down the runway.... Well, eat your heart out Tyra Banks!

Tristan is so much fun lately. He is getting to be such a big boy and will play with Daddy for hours on end. He loves to build legos and still loves superheros (Spiderman especially) and any type of sports ball he can get his hands on.

He is very independent, to the point that I need to plan an extra 10 - 15 minutes just to get in the car. He wants to walk to the car himself (going down the cement stairs in the garage very carefully) and he wants to get in the car and sit in his car seat all by himself. You wouldn't think this would take very long, but for a 2 year old, everything goes at a snails pace.

He tells me how much he likes the snow, but wishes it was sunny warm again, so he can go play outside. He also has learned that there is such thing as dirty snow (thank goodness he didn't learn from the yellow stuff!).

He still has a rough time realizing that the baby in mom's tummy is a boy. For the longest time, he told us it was a girl and we didn't do or say anything to influence him otherwise. Now that we know the baby really is a boy, we try and remind him all the time. It's really cute when he gives my belly kisses or puts his hand on my belly and says "the baby kicked me mommy!"

Tristan has a Superhero poster on the wall in his bedroom (thanks to Daddy's "this looks great here" mentality) even though it doesn't go with the decor at all! Anyway, it has ALL of the Marvel superheros on it and Tristan knows at least 50 of them and will point them out at a moments notice. Now, if he did the same thing with the map of the US....but, it doesn't happen!

Tristan loves PB & Honey sandwiches and each time we get out the honey, he tells me that Scott gave him that honey. Which, he did. Our neighbor Scott has bee boxes in his yard and gives us honey from time-to-time. We have such great neighbors! This is also the same neighbor that went to clown school and makes balloon animals for Tristan from time-to-time.

He still loves sweets and probably one of the only reasons we were able to potty-train him. Nothing like a little treat to reward a little boy for tinkling in the tinker!

He will be 3 in June and I am hoping to have an early b-day party for him. The baby is supposed to be delivered within 3 days of his Birthday, but I don't want to make his party any less special, so I thought it would be better to do earlier. He keeps saying he wants a Spiderman Birthday party (which he pretty much had both Birthdays already), but I guess the kid gets what he wants on his Birthday!

So, I am trying to find a good Spiderman or Green Goblin costume, so his daddy or one of our relatives can dress up and make fools of themselves. I figured I could call a costume shop, but wondered if anyone that reads my blog might have a good Halloween costume that will fit a grown man. Let me know!

I love my little boy and am excited to have two little boys that will be able to play with each other sometime in the near future. Although, I pretty much have two kids right now. Daddy does as much playing as Tristan does. I actually catch Todd from time-to-time building various architectural designs on Tristan's new Lego table, even without Tristan. So far, they have built the temple, downtown SLC, Las Vegas, a building that should be in Dubai, a spider, castles, a skate ramp, etc.

I will also have all of my in-stock Scentsy items available at this party, so that means NO WAIT! Also, during the month of February, everything Scentsy is 10% off, so get it while the gettin' is good!

Let me know if you will be there and if you need to know how to get there. It will be TONZ of fun and light refreshments will be provided!
